Management of Time, Space, Transitions and Learning

Module Objectives

The activities in this module will explore the connection between classroom management and student achievement and will identify the practices shared by most effective classroom managers. Estimated time to complete 60-90 minutes.

This module is related to NEE Indicator 5.2

At the end of this module, participants will be able to:

  1. Explain the connection between classroom management and student achievement

  2. Identify the practices that can support increased student achievement when they are in place in the classroom

  3. Explore the ways rules and procedures can affect classroom management and discipline

  4. Select classroom disciplinary strategies that promote student self-­control and appropriate behavior choices

  5. Identify, select and use strategies to foster positive teacher ­student relationships

  6. Identify and practice strategies to build a mind set that supports effective classroom management

  7. Incorporate instructional practices proven to be effective for promoting positive behavior into classroom practices
