Module Objectives

School improvement efforts most often focus on increasing the instructional effectiveness of teachers. This module examines the research about designing effective professional learning content and processes to ensure it delivers the expected results. Estimated time to complete: 40-60 minutes.

At the end of this module, participants will be able to:

  1. Examine the research on the characteristics of effective professional learning

  2. Become familiar with the Teacher Professional Growth Cycle and how it is used to support teacher growth

  3. Examine the Learning Forward Standards for Professional Learning

  4. Use the Learning Forward Standards for Professional Learning to design professional learning experiences

  5. Examine and learn to use tools that allow teachers to evaluate their efforts and progress in achieving professional growth
