Establishing School Vision, Mission and Goals

Module Objectives

Highly effective schools are guided by a shared, inclusive vision. This module explores the research behind the practice and offers strategies and utilization tips for school leaders. Estimated time to complete: 60 to 80 minutes.

This module is related to NEE Indicator 1.1, 1.2, 1.8, 2.1, 2.3, 3.1, 8.1

At the end of this module, participants will be able to:

  1. Explain how a shared vision and mission supports improved student learning.

  2. Describe the attributes required for a school vision to be inclusive.

  3. Explain why school improvement requires a vision that is inclusive.

  4. Create a plan for facilitating the development of a shared, inclusive school vision and mission.

  5. Identify goals that connect to the school vision and mission.
