Module Objectives

Effective mentoring programs share specific characteristics. Incorporating those characteristics and the careful selection of mentors will help ensure the success of a mentoring program. Estimated time to complete: 45-60 minutes.

This module is related to NEE Indicator 8.1.

At the end of this module, participants will be able to:

  1. Describe the characteristics of an effective mentor.

  2. Identify the standards that guide the components of a mentoring program.

  3. Identify some best practices for serving as a mentor to a beginning teacher.

  4. Plan a post-observation conference to be held with a mentee.
